Right on the heels of election day, GeoDC is holding a meetup to recap how two major news agencies used maps in their election coverage. Come out this Wednesday, November 7 to talk election mapping, learn how maps and tools were made, and hear behind the scene stories.

  • Emily Chow will talk about the Washington Post’s election maps overall, and go into more details on their maps of presidential campaign visits.

  • Stan Wilson and Dave Cole will walk through USA Today’s maps used in election coverage, diving into the technical details of how they built interactive tools that bring live election results to a variety of web and mobile platforms.

There will be plenty of time for Q&A, to talk to presenters afterward, and share your impressions around election mapping (or anything) with the crowd of geo folks.

The GeoDC group meets once a month on the first Wednesday of the month to talk about mapping, GIS, geodata, and how to better use location data. For updates, join the meetup group and follow @Geo_DC on Twitter.
